Introducing Staff Member Trevin Sluss
Hey folks! My name is Trevin Sluss and I am so excited to have the opportunity to share a little bit about what God has done in my life over the last few years.
I am a student at ETSU and will be graduating this coming December with a Bachelors in Media and Communication, Radio, TV, Film, and a minor in Bluegrass. I have been attending Grace Fellowship Church since Fall of 2020 and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!
I grew up here in East Tennessee and went to a co-op all the way from pre-school to high school. I played basketball and ran track throughout high school and started heavily picking up music in my freshmen year. I absolutely fell in love with it. I knew right away that I wanted to make music my career someday.
When I was a sophomore in high school, I began to get very involved with my church at the time, which led me to occasionally teach and speak for our Sunday and Wednesday youth services. It did not take long for me to realize that I loved youth ministry as well and had a deep passion to share the gospel with students. From that time on, I knew what I wanted to do with my life… work in worship and youth ministry as soon as I possibly could. I prayed for opportunities to grow and learn everything I needed to in order to serve my local community and reflect Christ to students through music.
After I graduated high school, I asked to stay back and help with the high school ministry. It was so exciting for me to be able to teach and pour into kids every week. I also had the privilege to help with and lead the worship band for our youth ministries throughout high school and some of my early college years.
In 2020, I moved into a house with my best friend, Ben, and soon after met my girlfriend and future wife, Lexy. I began helping a few other churches with worship when I was needed and eventually was asked to play keys for a worship night for Grace Students here at GFC. I was so excited to get to play and meet some new people. I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and authenticity of this church and came back to visit on a Sunday morning. I felt so welcome and appreciated right off the bat. I began to come to GFC full-time soon after and had the opportunity to get plugged in as the Middle School worship leader. What a mind-blowing privilege it was to hang out with kids and minister to them through music as my job. Since then, I have been so blessed to be able to take the position of the Grace Students and Young Adults worship leader and coordinator.
I am so humbled to say that I am working my dream job here at Grace Fellowship Church and I am so encouraged, supported, and inspired by every person I talk to here. GFC’s heart for ministering to the local community and loving everyone unconditionally is so needed in this area. I am humbled, blessed. and excited to be a part of the team here at GFC!
